The Deafinitely Cooking Story
I have been an American Sign Language interpreter professionally for 14 years and I am a CODA (Child of a Deaf Adult). Deafinitely Cooking began as a result of influence of my two favorite people, my mother and my father.
My mother had 10 children, so she cooked a lot and my father was deaf from the age of five, so sign language was our natural mode of communication. The combination of the two, cooking and signing is the inspiration for Deafinitely Cooking.
A couple of years later, I was asked by an organization to teach a culinary class to a group of deaf students. During the class sessions, the students encouraged me to write a cook book with the recipes that I had taught them in class. I took their advice and the first Deafinitely Cooking book was born. The second book came along a couple of years later when I asked my friends to share their favorite recipes along with the story of why it was their favorite recipe. My friends names and stories are in my book, Deafinitely Cooking with Friends.
Deafinitely Cooking recipes are easy and convenient for the person (s) with a busy lifestyle. Your family and friends will love it.
Enjoy!
